Today we are celebrating the 2nd United Nations World Bicycle Day at the Rotary International Convention in Hamburg!
We celebrate the the bicycle's great potential and the many different facets it has: promoting health, providing mobility for individuals in urban cities but also in rural developing regions. It is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship. The bicycle brings people together and connects us. The bicycle promotes tolerance, mutual understanding and respect and facilitates social inclusion and a culture of peace.
Take this day as a chance to honor the Power of Bicycles!
Thank you :)!

Day 7: Bremen - Hamburg (May 30th)
Our last stage is on! Thank you Rotary Club Bremen for welcoming us last night and thank for joining some of the last km we have ahead of us. We cannot believe that we almost made it to Hamburg.
Join the celebration of our arrival in Hamburg at the townhall of the city - we will arrive there at 6 pm!
See you there ;)
Day 6: Osnabrück - Bremen (May 29th)
Thank you Rotary Club Brückeburg for coming all the way to Nordholz to join us for lunch with Rotary and Rotaract Club Diepholz.
Rotary Club Brückeburg and Rotary Club Sablé sur Sarthe have been twinning Clubs for more than 50 years! What a special friendship!
Thank you for your support.
We still need all the help we can get to reach our goal of 20.000€!
Day 5 Afternoon Stage: Münster - Osnabrück
Today we have learned that Osnabrück is the city of peace. “The task of peace – committed to peace" is their mission. After 5 years of negotiations the "Peace of Westphalia" that ended the Thirty Years' War was proclaimed on the steps of the Town Hall in 1648. Since more than 65 years local fourth graders commemorate this event every year with a hobbyhorse parade.
We were invited to a reception in the townhall by the city of Osnabrück.
Thank you Rotaract and Rotary Club Osnabrück for welcoming us, for inviting us to dinner and for supporting our project! We enjoyed having conversation with you.
See you in Hamburg!
Day 5 Morning Stage: Dortmund - Münster (May 28th)
Today we had a special invitation for lunch. The Rotary Club Münster welcomed us to their weekly meeting in the „Zwei Löwen Klub“. After they learned about the ride, they spontaneously donated 3 Buffalo bicycles.
Thank you so much for having and supporting us. You give the power of bicycles!
Day 3: Liège - Köln (May 26th)
We are crossing borders!
Day 3 is a special stage. We started our trip in France, passed through Luxembourg and entered Belgium. Soon we reached the boarder to Germany. The picture is taken at the trilateral border Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany - what a special moment! That makes 5 European countries in 3 days.
In total, we made 128,2 km from Liège to Cologne and we have spent more than 7 hours on our bicycles.
On our arrival, we met Rotary and Rotaract Clubs from Cologne. Thank you for your support and for being there to welcome us!
Looking forward to day 4, which marks half-time! We still have some kilometers ahead of us and still need support to reach our goal.
Support us and give The Power of Bicycles.
Day 2: Arlon - Liège (May 25th)
Riding through Belgium is awesome! The landscape is beautiful and the people are very nice - even though we had to conquer some hills :) The first part of the day was pretty rough. It was rainy and it took us longer than expected. But after lunch, we had reached the highest point of the route. In sum, we traveled a bit more than 140 km. When the group arrived in Liège, we were very tired. Thanks to the Rotary Club Liège, we had a wonderful dinner. It was a pleasure to meet you.
We are riding from Thionville to Hamburg, 835 km in 7 days on our bicycles. Our goal is to fundraise at least 20.000 EUR to mobilize a school in Zambia through The Power of Bicycles. We are Rotarians and Rotaractors from all over France.
Day 1: Thionville - Arlon
The beginning of our adventure is Thionville. Thank you Rotaract and Rotary Clubs Thionville for hosting us and for providing breakfast. We even had some of you joining us for the first stage. A great start to an outstanding cycling experience!
We passed the primary school of Apach and, thanks to the Rotaract Club Luxembourg, we had a sunny lunch stop at the city of Luxembourg. After riding through Schengen, we finally made it to the border of Belgium! The second stage of the first day is done! Thank you Rotary Club Arlon for welcoming is in Belgium and for inviting us to dinner. We had a blast!
