Cycling has the power to change lives. How do we know? Because we are lucky enough to be involved in a number of programs that help people join the global cycling fraternity. One example is World Bike Relief (WBR), a project that aims to remove distance as a barrier to accessing education, healthcare and economic opportunities in developing countries. In sub-Saharan Africa there are over 600 million people who walk as their main mode of transportation. In 2018 Accell Group donated more than 800 Buffalo bicycles to WBR, providing children in countries such as Zambia with the chance to ride a bike to school. World Bicycle Relief mobilizes people through The Power of Bicycles. They envision a world where distance is no longer a barrier to independence and livelihood. I am supporting World Bicycle Relief, an organization providing access to independence and livelihood through The Power of Bicycles, with a personal fundraiser. The money raised through my fundraiser helps to provide specially designed, locally assembled bicycles to students in rural Africa; connecting them with education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
World Bicycle Relief is currently working to provide bicycles to students (70% girls), teachers, and educational workers in rural parts of Africa. For 134 EUR or 147 CHF, World Bicycle Relief can provide a Buffalo Bicycle to a student in need. Every donation helps.
